Because people outside America mostly dont celebrate Halloween and there's no real tradition behind Halloween in Europe. At least not as majorly as in USA.
So to answer your question : Halloween has no meaning in Europe and why shouldnt I be at home on an ordinary Monday.
Before christianity = big crop fest (at least here in Funland)
During christianity = All Saints-day (to reminize dead people or something like that)
After christianity = Halloween is starting to be the thing
Can't say it's necessarily a bad thing. It's about time the human race united under a single cultural banner, instead of stubbornly sticking to whatever traditional ways they have and bickering about which culture is the best.
