control panel, mouse, pointer options, disable pointer precision

no need for mouse fix
What noodle said
What the black one said. + google, Marc c mousefix (or mark c w/e)
what the nigger said doesnt work so well as the registry one
The registry one is just for games that enable "Enhanced pointer precision", such as (early patches?) of Counter-Strike 1.6 and other Half-Life engine games. It doesn't do anything to mouse movements when "Enhanced pointer precision" is turned off.

Enemy Territory, or any other Quake3 engine games for that matter, don't enable "Enhanced pointer precision", thus, the fix is useless.

Quote by MarkC mouse fix readmeDoes my game need a mouse fix?

You can test your game to see if it turns 'Enhance pointer precision' ON, and needs a mouse fix.

- Turn the 'Enhance pointer precision' option OFF,
- Run Mouse Movement Recorder (included in the ZIP file),
- Run your game (aim at something!) and look at the 'EnPtPr' column footer at the bottom of the Mouse Movement Recorder window.
- If it is displayed with a red background then the game has turned acceleration ON and needs a mouse fix.

This from here.

ET does not have the bug that MarkC's registry edit fixes, thus it does not really do anything regarding ET and anything else is just placebo.
All MarkC's fix does is make the "Enhanced pointer precision" act the as if it was off when it is turned on - ie. renders the setting useless. I've only verified this on Vista and Seven, though, I have no idea if a regedit is required on XP (although I'm fairly sure it isn't).

For me windows turned it on :)
Parent
i tested it in game, it did change when i did the patch. So what happened here?
Parent
Do you use in_mouse 0?
Parent
no i have it set on 1
Parent
Odd, because Q3 engine should only use the outdated mouse functions with in_mouse 0. Such cases :)
Parent
thought in_mouse was broken in ET tho, anyway i think people should just use both to be sure. most people are playing with accel and not even knowing it :P
Parent
I think it was just in_mouse 2 that was broken.

markc/rinput
h8m3, you keep recommending rinput. Maybe I asked this before, but have you never had problems running in on a 64Bit Windows? For me it works fine on XP 32Bit, but it's unusable in Win7 64Bit!
Parent
x86 apps should just work fine on win7 x64. Never had a problem with a x86 app not working on my x64 OS
Parent
Sure, maybe it's something else.
Parent
i haven't used it at my new setup yet cause i havent played ET for ages, but at the old one it worked flawlessly for few years
Parent
what noodle said, should work for every new game and most old games.

atleast it worked/works for me on every game i´ve been playing :)
