mappingquestion

sup guys,

i just read through the news, saw the new maps by chubby and asked myself: why is it so hard to make a new map?

There are games such as trackmania where it is no problem to make a new map/track whatever. Is it possible to make such a programm for ET, so we dont have so much troubles to make new maps? I mean there are many players out there with a lot of ideas and knowledge, who could make some great maps, but they dont have any idea how to do so...

Is it hard to code something like this ? or even possible...?

gtkradiant is a programm that allows you to create maps in all games that are based on quake engine..

main program for mapmaking in enemy territory is gtkradiant (prefer 1.4.0 ver.)
there are alot of prefabs for mappers wich they can use, and few programs wich u can use for making terrain, but i prefer to make terrain with your own hand..

imo its quite impossible to make maps in ET like in TM, because every map you make you have like your own style wich you cant find by prefabs or smth.. (you get the idea..)

ET mapmaking is much different than TM lol :p, requires much scripting etc.. TM is like puzzle (quite hard to explain)
this puzzlestuff for ET would be nice ;p but ye i get ur point

im pretty sure its not that hard if they are motivated enough, looks how many maps there is in the game :p

who says that its hard? :)
it's not hard to do but it just takes a lot of time at the start until you get used to the program and how to do things, all depends if you find it interesting as to if you continue doing it or not though, i found mapping to be rather boring so didn't continue with it
playing the map is the hard part
