Today's average monitor size

Hey guys,

since I'm still playing on an 8 years old AOC 17" TFT (75 Hz), I was wondering if the average standard of your pc monitors is like 22 / 23 inch nowadays or are there still guys playing with a 15 / 17 or 19" screen?

Btw is the difference between 75 and 120 Hz worth to buy a new screen?

It is if your hardcore gamer, if not I wouldn't pay the prices of those screens. 24 inch widescreen.
Yeah indeed,

you could get the LG W2363D for like 150€ but now it disappeared from practically every webshop who was offering it for that low price.

Every other 22/23" screen with 120Hz costs like 300€ or more...

Might have been one of those offers where they sell chosen amount of them probably.
Parent
was a very nice price imo for a 120Hz screen.

Since ET is the only game I play at pc, I don't want to spend like 300euro or more for just a screen... On the other hand, my current 17" is a bit small and I get bored of it after 7 or 8 years ^^
Parent
yus, I get your point :D
You should check amazon.de

Heb laatst een syncmaster 2233z 22" gekocht . Die kan je ook op 120hz zetten. 210 eu was die.

1. Just bought a 24 inch 247eLPH (Philips ) , 2 ms, 1920*1080 ( default resolution ), cost me 199€ in a shop here. The average monitor people have nowadays would be around 20/22 inch I suppose, not sure.

2. Yes, I can't reach 120hz with this monitor and that's a shame. On the other hand you have to know that 75 hz is definitely enough to play ET with. ( Expecting random arguments from the 12hz users and I'll say this : I know it's a lot better but for ET 75hz is enough. )
yeah,

other question is just the difference between 17inch and 23 or 24 inch (not considering the Hz). Is it much better to play on a screen that's 5" bigger?
Parent
think yes, better to play with 19-22" instead of lower or higher ( too small, and too big ) imo
Parent
Might sound kinky but bigger is bettah.
Parent
i've played on my 42" TV and well, looks quite awesome and makes fun, but some 22" fits better.
Parent
haha, but you are gr0ss!
Parent
I prefer my old 17" screen more than my 22" LCD.

The 17th just felt right :D
But for regular internet browsing and movie/series watching. Well I dont need to tell you which one is way way better :D ( Hint, it's one with two same numbers ;) )
Parent
I just get my parents to pay.

And 24" is too big because if you're too close to your screen it's less effective.. You should check out like the best distance to be away from a screen with relation to the size of it!
omagad bird! Lies, filty lies.

I got a 23" 120hz LG screen bought it for 160€ at amazon.de, i previously had a philips 17 inch screen which was like 5 years old. I play a lot of games (not only ET) so for me it was worth it.
working on a 27 inch screen like a b o s s
I tend to loose my focus on anything around me (ingame hud etc.) when playing on bigger than 22" :/
I think you lose focus when playing on bigger than 22" :/
Parent
That's what I was thinking :/
Parent
17' is fine.

For bigger screen I have 32' TV.
I think around 22-24"

And yes its worth to buy 120Hz monitor, if you play a lot of games. But worthless when you use it most for office stuff. And difference is more than noticeable.
ive had 22" for... 4(?) years, satisfied with that size
I think you are satisfied with the size
Parent
i think u think that im satisfied with that size
Parent
got my 19" for 5 years now, i still like it

but thinking about buying a new one, should be 23" or max 24"
normally i dont want to spend 300eus, but i want to have 120hz :D
120 Hz is a must.. It is totally worth it.
Don't have it myself, but I play sometimes at a friends house & the feeling is just completely better.

I would go for the LG W2363D or BenQ XL2410T or Acer GN245HQBMID or Asus VG236H..
27" is a bit too much at my opinion, so I stay around 22-23" when testing :)

Parent
have 19", thinking about getting sth like 22/23", but as I will also buy a new PC, I might not have enough money left for more hardware
I think you dont have enough money left for more hardware :D

My monitor is ten years old and does 160hz ":D"

I should give an answer too...

Froxe said it correctly, it can look pretty big on your desk too so you want a monitor that you are satisfied with.
I've never seen a 15" screen. Used to have 17" CRT and now I'm with 19" TFT.
27" here.

cant hit shit in ego shooters.
had the LG w2363d and 120hz is just amazing.. it's very smooth.. I used to play on 120 and when you set it back to 60hz you can feel the difference (yes, you can)

also inb4 people can't see the difference between 120hz and lower hz numbers
