so my brother and me are setting up a new system he wants to buy for christmas.
thats what i came up with after checking benchmarks and prices etc.
any flaws/recommendations? he does photoshop/after effects etc. and wants to play the newest games ofc.
question is: what powersupply do we need?
yes he needs 16gb ram, yes we have a case and all the other stuff. only psu missing.
cheers :)

lol wtf 5870 seems more powerfull than 6870 :l
E: Also holy shit stuff is cheap in Germany.
and whats wrong with the phenom?
I was thinking about it last year though, when sandy bridge had just come out, I'm sure phenom is fine too but I know I series is rape.
I currently run an i5 2500K and have all 4 cores @ 4.8GHZ @ 40c and 65c max load...
Get an i5 (2500K), make sure you get the 2500K as the 2500 isn't overclockable & Sabertooth P67 motherboard.
so lets say i dont want to spend an additional 100€. what cpu would make more sense than the one i took?
e: we chose to go with the i5 2500k, another mainboard like the MSI P67A-C45 perhaps, to cut the costs. then i convinced him to only take 8gb ram so its just about the same price. thx for the advice.
so what would you say for psu?
Anything from
OCZ - apparently gone bankrupt, so impossible for warranty/RMA send back.
Coolermaster - great performer with good price
Corsair - the best but most expensive
With PSU never get a cheap alternative, it's the most important thing when building a system. A decent Corsair HX 600w is equivalent to a 800w other branded PSU. All rails stable and less coil whine.
For future proofing (add another card in future etc..) get a 700w, I have Coolermaster 700w, cost me £55 and does the job perfectly fine OC near 5GHz.

Mine is at 2.69 now, got it to 3.33 but dont need to push it that much.
