Fringe is a must-see series - up there with the big boys, tremendous series. ( we have similar tastes am sure)
True blood is a series I haven't seen in your list which definitely should be looked - very impressive writing and producing...
Others are Spartacus which is a weird series, and terra nova, a HUGE production who is yet to impress.

friend of mine told me to watch fringe, saw all episodes but I cant get away that feeling its just X-Files ripoff

Never seen the x files so I don't know, however the series is awesome. How is it a ripoff? Wasn't it more UFO based?

X-Files isnt just about UFO, its about super top secret department of fbi working on paranormal activities, and thats basically what Fringe is all about.

That's different. You can compare two cop series can you? But they will still be different. X files investigates UFO while fringe uses the parallel world and physics.

dunno, depends on what you expect from it. But I would say its not rly worth it since you are watching Fringe.

I think Fringe is far better than to be called as a ripoff. If you want to compare it to something sure there's similar stuff to it but i think you should view it as own show and not compared to something genious what was made ages ago. I for example didnt even think about xfiles while watching it, i was honestly surprised by it and it totally took me with it and absolutely one of my favourites alltime. Honestly after reading about opinions about the series after watching it almost felt like if you could not make up anything negative about it youd just call it as a xfiles ripoff and thats it. Missing so much respect.

Ok, expression "its just X-Files ripoff" was kinda strong. I didnt want to offend show as it is, mainly since it beloved by so many ppl. But after very first episode, the first thing that came to my mind was "hmm, wasnt this here before?". Then I found out why I got that deja vu feeling. Of course its somehow different from X-Files, mostly because its explaining everything thats happening through paralel universes and its more explanatory than X-Files. Thats why many people didnt rly get into X-Files, because of the lack of explanations. On the other hand, I dont like their idea of paralel universes thats underpinning their whole story, but thats personal stuff. But saying its X-Files "ripoff" will say much more than if I said I dont rly like it and its kind of boring to me. If he didnt see X-Files, there will be no harm watching Fringe and he wont get affected by it. If he saw X-Files and liked it, he will like Fringe as well (I didnt rly like X-Files tbh :P ). And If he didnt like X-Files, well let give Fringe a try since its about more-less same shit in different clothing.

I think Fringe is awful. Utterly unbelievable, and even the "science" is completely wrong. That blonde chick is a dreadful actress who can only do one facial expression.
