Router/Internet Problem

Hey guys

So, i had this problem about a year ago, but it more or less sorted itself out after a few weeks

Its started to happen again and its really frustrating! Every time the phone has a incoming call, soon as you answer the internet goes off. I don't know if the router is resetting itself or the internet is just going off. Every time this happens takes atleast 5mins to sort it all out and get the internet back. Sometimes when you make a call or put the phone down, happens again.

Anybody know whats happening here or have a solution?

Thanks x

are you using voip? Or not?
And is it ADSL?
There can be several problems depending on the type of connection.

If you are using ADSL in combination with normal phone line i woud advise looking at your splitter/filter first.
If you are using voip, call your ISP.
Ye its ADSL with a normal phone line - Using a Belkin G router

Look if you are using one of those. Make sure its connected properly, and if you don't have than its a problem.
It can also be malfunctioning.

Splitter/filter works like this

point of entrace > splitter/filter > telephone/adsl modem

But than again, i can't be sure that is the problem. But i know those things can cause a lot of problems.

Ye ive got 2 of them, I literally just swapped the first one round with the spare i have, and still same problem
Parent
Than it can be the wiring, the telephone line itself, or the router.
I would advise calling your ISP/telephone company and let them check the line, ask them to test your line. If you are using login/radius within your adsl modem/router they will also notice that your internet connection is dropping. If that is the case they can try to do something about that.

Ah ok, thanks mate, much appreciated

Will get on it first thing monday :)

Filter problem for sure. Had the same problem a while back, got a new one (so called new one) and problem persistsed, purchased another new one from a different store (cheap as chips by the way) and it fixed the problem instantly. It doesnt cost the earth to replace how many of them you have and you DO need them on every phone and fax extension/line you may have.

Hey mate

You think so? Ive got 2, one seemed to solve the problem for a bit but now its back :/ Where did you get yours from which work? I don't mind buying another one since they aint that expensive, if its a chance at solving the problem till we get our new inet.

Thanks x

Most ISP will send a new one for free if they offer atleast some service.
