This reminds me of our cat, as old as me (16 years old at this time). It had a cancer too, and, 4 years ago, we had to put it down. Put Her down. One of the saddest moment ever.
Its twin sister is still alive, going for its 20th birthday. Like me. And I can't even imagine my reaction when this cat i've always known will left us..
I'd say I was a rather emotional guy and the girl I am seeing seems to like that about me. I am probably beta as hell, but that is who I am and I refuse to spend my time alpha-maling other friends in order to try and win the attention of a girl.
Furthermore, if you alter your behaviour too deeply, the relation will never last.
She will notice that you're a liar or, one day, you will tell her "Go to hell, today i'm gonna wear my green pair of trousers, my yellow t-shirt and my purple hat!".
