Downsides from TZAC
- Only works client side on windows
- Server side works only properly on linux
- I have dedicated server here at home on fiber optic, but i can't play at my own server because TZAC thinks i am playing on LAN! ( even if i connect to to WAN IP ). Everyone else can connect. Without TZAC or with PB everything is perfect.
- TZAC is unreliable.
- People get banned first and than get unbanned if they didn't cheat ( see aphesia )
- Only one guy in charge
- Support, just look forum on tzac site. It's miracle if you get a proper response.
But without tzac it would be even worse. It's a necessary evil.
:{D
And the serverside works on linux properly, but you can't connect to it if you are hosting your own server.
And there is a good reason people use Windows for gameservers, some gameservers work only on Windows. And some new released games only work first on Windows server. That should be the other way around.
i think this is nothing what ubuntu couldnt do?!
e: would be nice if a ubuntu 11.10 user could reply here :)
Sory for my bad Engrish :P but i hope you can easy understand this :]. if you need more infos reply or pm me
Because of reasons like this, I'd suggest you properly partition your hdd (wubi is hella queer) and get a dual boot setup. For me, windows is mainly for running games, not only ET (and some specific software like MathCad, havent configured my virtual XP properly); and linux is for practically everything else. I even have unpartitioned space for at least two more distros (quadboot lol). I don't think complex games should really be made to run on ubuntu, theyre mostly designed with windows in mind, which handles all kinds of hardware way better; especially if you can simply get a multiple boot setup.
i got like fedora 12 14 15 16 17 knopix ubuntu 10 but i got my own server in my garage xD ofc on linux <3 :D lame is that i cant boot fucking widnows coz like i said dont even have hardrive inside my pc and booting windows via server( without hardrive) is just impossible (fucked up OS). anyway i dont rly give a fuck since i am allowed by cb 2 play offis without tzac etc. go rulez :) anyway would be much better if there was tzac client for linux.
