Resolution isn't working

Screen: 22" VGA ( native 1680x1050 )

Attempting to use 1280x800 ( 16:10 ) but it turns out like this:

Black borders above and under ET :(
Any solutions? ( The screen I'm using atm is utter shit, haven't got a DVI cable yet ).

It was already there + when using 1280x800 in desktop mode, it has the exact same borders as well. It just doesn't seem to stretch or sth :

/seta r_customaspect 1
/seta r_mode -1
/seta r_customwidth 1280
/seta r_customheight 800
/seta r_fullscreen 1

r_aspectratio is useless.
