Seen the lineup, not going to go I think.

I went a couple of times but stopped going after the year that metallica was the main act on sunday, dunno, 2009 or 2010 perhaps.

You're dutch so I guess you don't know 't Hof van Commerce, you probably won't understand much of what they say since they rap/sing in "west flemish", but you should really check them out, they are the masters of atmosphere.

It used to be a niche, you know, something "extra" for people that didnt want to spend 4 days straight listening to rock. Nowadays the dance sector is nearly overtaking the rock sector :(

ps ; Justice is awesome, I've seen them 3 times at i love techno, but they shouldn't be at RW.

Graspop is the only "major" Belgan festival that is refusing to go "commercial", I like that.

I knew someone would reply with the "OMG OMG THEY ARE COMMERCIAL YOU IDIOT" sentence. I meant that they didn't go commercial compared to the other Belgian festivals as those are now even inviting house/elektro/d&b producers and other shit.

Kdenk ni dat er (veel) festivals zijn da ni zouden uitbreiden als ze nieuwe mogelijkheden zien en er rijker van worden..

Elke ondernemer wilt zoveel mogelijk winst maken . Dit telt zowel voor bands als voor festivaleigenaars.

Ja nee ge hebt natuurlijk 100% gelijk, maar graspop doet toch een poging om nabij hun roots te blijven, een veel grotere/succesvollere poging dan pukkel en werchter bvb.

Yeah, right. I can remember going there for the very first edition and paying next to nothing. Not two editions later the price of a ticket just multiplied and they started charging heavily for everything else.

Still, 150 euros for 3 days. That's over twice as expensive as slightly before and after the euro (vide Dynamo Open Air/Wacken Open Air)

true but if u look at Rock Werchter/Pukkelpop/I Love Techno and other big belgian festivals it's much worse
I mean 80 euro's for a fucking day ticket at werchter???
When i went to werchter (somewhere 2006) The price was 125 euros for the whole festival and camping^^

Ze blijven bij 1 genre waar ze goed in zijn (tenminste als je metal niet onderverdeeld)

Als je kijkt naar werchter enzo gaan ze d&b enzo erbij halen maar dan doen ze dit alleen met commerciele namen (chase & status, netsky, pendulum, dj fresh,...) nooit met de echte d&b om maar een voorbeeld te geven

It's their loss. Call it Pop Werchter or Dubstep Werchter and less people will tend to skip the festival by default.

Possibly.

But there would also be a lot of "older" attendees who are still going for the reason that it is "rock werchter" and that there are rockbands. If they start promoting the festival as a general allround event then I can imagine that those people who I just mentioned would start looking for alternatives.
