While America has been occupied within the middle east for over a decade, China has been
agressively moving into Africa. The whole continent is full of resources and China does aid in development of those nations for exchange of those natural resources.
Of course America wants to have slice of that cake too, it's just matter of time they have a reason to build few fortresses and military bases to assure they will have power over there in the future and now they fond a way how to get people support this operation too.
