BenQ XL2420T

My BenQ XL2420T arrived today, my first 120 hertz screen. I heard the standard FPS1 settings aren't that good, any suggestions on what settings to use for ET?

what banaan said
Expensive screen is expensive.
What's it's price?
Parent
Around €350.
Parent
Da fuq, how much " is it? Why is it so expensive!
Parent
Designed for gaming :D

LCD monitors with 120 Hz(small monitors) usually cost a lot more than normal screen. add the awesome pivot function of this one to it and some gaming marketing and there you go, I have to say I absolutely love it already.

Quoteusually cost a lot more than normal screen

LG cost arround 200 euros for a better Monitor (atleast for gaming)

Quoteand some gaming marketing and there you go

A lot of marketing!!!

QuoteI have to say I absolutely love it already.

ofc you'll love it since its your first 120hz, but the money isn't worth it (i read few test of this monitor and those real bench show you that benq cannot into making monitor)

Get talent or die tryin.
from zero to hero
would like to try 120hz to see if huge diff or not from 75hz

but enough wasted money for gaming :D
Parent
1 party day at the weekend costs me about ~50 euro and it's like max 7 hours(note:>max<) while this screen costs me 350 and will surely get me countless hours of better experience/more fun in games :]. and yeah I had some money left I could spend so why not.
Parent
ye, going to buy one if i have money to waste :p

saving money for car, moto license etc now
Parent
not gonna make you better lololol
r_mode 8 instead of what banaan said, ET is not made for full HD :)

*monitor settings: Picture Mode FPS - Display Mode FULL - Brightness/Contrast 100
what excatly do u mean by "not made for fullhd" ?
Parent
I don't know if you've tried to play 1920x1080 on a 24" but it doesnt look good, would need 140 fov to make it right and that just makes things way too far.
Parent
Looks nice, feels nice imo. I would only use smth else if I actually had a 4:3 monitor.
Parent
which monitor are you using atm then?
Parent
BenQ XL2410T
Parent
I am, too. Weird, to me it looks weird, if you compare it to rmode 6 or 8, like the screen is supposed to be bigger in order for it to spread out nicely, do u know what i mean?
Parent
Hmm, yea I think I know what you mean :p
well the feeling is different no doubt. But 1920x1080 is pretty nice to play with imo. I probably prefer r_mode 4 over anything else but there's no way I'm playing that stretched and black bars do not cut it for me :P

Parent
aha yeah r_mode 4 is nice but there are little downsides like supply back-fence you CANT SEE SHIT lol,
anyway, you're playing on full hd then? and did you put any commands other then the r_mode -1 bla bla to make it better?
Parent
yea I'm playing full hd, and I didn't change anything else except for fov and sensitivity as far as I can remember anyways :D was quite some time ago.
Parent
monitor settings? tried xPERiA's feels pretty good but looking forward to see yours aswell
Parent
I'm using the standard FPS mode, I just switch to it whenever I play ET. I have tried messing around a bit with the custom settings but haven't found anything that feels as nice as the standard FPS one.

But I'm sure you can achieve some really nice results by combining it with dynamic contrast. I saw some photos of CS 1.6 that looked really, really nice.
Parent
R_mapoverbrightbits 1
r_overbrightbits 1
r_gamma 3

dan is het helemaal nice ;-)
Parent
playing with 1920x1080 with 23" fov 100 :PP
Parent
Ah :) well you probably know what i'm talking about, didnt mean to say it's not possible or not good at all, just weird to the eyes!
Parent
only comfortable with my crt running 800x600 with 120hz :D
sadly thats not really an option anymore
