casual scrub games are the future, no doubt.
Having played most of the popular MOBA/ARTS games I can say that they're all equally sucky on low level, and they're all quite equally difficult to learn (as learning them is mostly about learning the theory = layout of the map, what each hero and ability does, memorizing the items).
I can also with certainty say that HoN and DotA are equally "slow and boring farming" in the lane phase as LoL is, when played by people who have no clue. Even when played by more skilled people they aren't noticeably faster paced than LoL is when played at an equal level.
the design choices that differentiate LoL for the original dota did aim to make it suitable for a larger audience tho.
no doubt it has some really hard to acchieve meta-game but the basic trth stays the same.
i personally dont like to opt for the casual option, its an attitude. i enjoy a challenge
