First day of IIHF ice hockey is running and few matches has already been played. There is still two matches to be played.

Italy has always been one of the weakest teams in WC. Time to time they drop out from the highest level to division one. It seems that it may happen again but they have taken some leaps towards but unfortunately for them; so have the others.

Before they would have lost like 7-0 to almost every country but year by the year this tournament is becoming more intense and there aren't really teams that are clearly many levels below the others.

Denmark have taken HUGE leaps in recent years. Feels like in last WC Denmark just went one level upwards. They can challenge and win top teams now.

Indeed, with more Danish players in NHL, and probably more to come, the national team becomes better. A couple of things that also makes a difference is that the players are proud of playing for the national team and that they are playing as a team.

This year, it is the strongest Danish national team in the WC ever and their goal is to reach the quarterfinals, which should be possible, if you look at how they played today.

I dont think NHL is that important. You'll be better and more consistant when you get your players play bigger roles in sel/fel/khl instead of allsvenskan/del/AL-B.

Well, there are Danish players in the Swedish and Finnish top leagues, for instance Frederik Andersen, who is probably the best GK in Elitserien (as far as I know).

I doubt that there will ever be any Danish players in KHL though, it is however funny that the KHL was speaking of offering a franchise for Danish based team, to play in KHL. Some people in Denmark was discussing on how to make the Danish league feed players to a combined KHL team, with the best players from the different teams. I don't think it would work though.

Like walle said you need more players to play some good quality leagues like DEL, Elitserien, SM-liiga so your 3/4 wouldn't be filled with those 2 division players but with those good quality league players.

Your countrys future doesn't look bad. Players that are your stars at the moment are at their best age in few years and there is some talented youngsters also. Denmark should be really strong in few next years!
