Comp. stuck

Hi!

In a word: when my friend starts his computer it gets stuck on the Windows' picture at the starting up.

His computer: Samsung R540, Model Code: NP-540-JA04FR
Windows Seven

I already told him to try the safe mode but it doens't seem to work (I can't see it by myself before 16.30 because i have one remaining exam today grmlmlmr).
What can he do?

He has got a exam tomorrow and without computer he is in the deepest shit you can imagine. Help us!

fuk you thats how we roll, doing it the last minute saves you much effort of repeating it because you remember it till the exam and once you leave the room you forget it :D

sounds like the boot sequence is corrupt. I'm not sure about win7, but on xp you can change it (using f8 i think) to show you errors in a bluescreen instead of it restarting. Do that, and then go from there. Recovery disk is probably the best option though.

Had the same problem on my old pc - my hard drive with OS got burned, maybe he got similar issue

Is any external hard drive or USB is pluged in?

If he just needs access to the internet and his files he may use a Linux live cd (for example ubuntu).

Is it stuck at the loading screen or does it pass it and then gives that w7 logo?
Can he reach login stage?

reboot, press F8 before the windows loading screen, then startup with last known good configuration
if that doesn't work, check the bios if it tries to boot from the wrong disk

dl ubuntu -> installe le en "live" -> sauvegarde tes données -> essaye le cd recovery sinon reformate
