Amount of sleep?

Just wondering how many hours sleep everyone gets (on average), I know that Belgium piegie survives on little sleep and it amazes me.

for me it's about 7-8 hours sleep a night.

Always go to sleep way to late, around 1, sometimes 2 am lol. And I have to get up at 6 or 6u30. In weekend it's catching up some sleep!
3-4 hours from monday - friday, on weekend it's usually 6-14 ^^
I'm going to bed and wait till I sleep, then I stay in sleep mode till alarm clock rings or till I wake up naturally (that's the case on weekends).

Same, grown so used to not sleeping that much that I'm not tired at all anymore. Can't be healthy tho :D

It really isn't. I used to sleep 4-6 hours daily maximum when I was growing up. But it's rather bad for your development if you don't sleep enough. I should have been atleast 1m98, but ended up at 1m93 and chronic sleep deprivation is a big factor in that.

(I know it's still rather big, but not when you want to play in the top leagues of basketball)

Yeah you should really try. I can't change how much I slept when I was younger, but you still can rectify it :)

Ow, you also have a rather high chance of thyroid problems or diabetes when you grow older. (I got the thyroid one, not pleasant). Too late for me to change my habbits when I was young, but you really should.

it depend, sometimes i can sleep 15hours in a raw, sometimes i can stay wake up for 2/3 days.

Tho in average i would say 5/6 hours
9-10h when i never wake to an alarm clock
with more healthy lifestyle and rythms i would estimate needing less
school: 4 to 6h
no school: 7 to 9h
4-5 hours when i'm working, 9-11 when i got free :D

1-4 most times, takes fucking forever to fall asleep and if ive got college in the morning i barely sleep :| that and an over active mind that wont shut the fuck off
How can people sleep for fucking 15 or 18 hours.
I did it 2 or 3 times in my life but only when I was sick or if I was awake for like 2 days (shit load of work for college in 2010 or so).

Few years ago i used to sleep 6 hours or less and managed to wakeup with lots of energy n stuff, but at night i would be dieing / sleepy.

Nowadays, since my university changed my schedule to a night schedule (from 18 to 23), i sleep later than usual (every fucking day after 4 am) and wakeup at 12.. 13... depends... sometimes i sleep 8 - 10 hours. But i wakeup feeling like shit and bad humor...

For me, less hours sleeping seems better...
same for me man, same feeling aswell, its fucking shit :( i need to get back to sleeping from 24-09h :(

Well during the night time during school I use to get like 3-4 hours, but when I would arrive home I would sleep for like 4 more hours.
On weekends 10-12.
In my 3 years of highschool I got like 5-6 hours sleep each day. Now I'm working in a nightshift so it suits my daily rutine better now :P so I guess 7-8 hours now.

Around 3 to 4 hours per day for past 4 years, been diagnosed with chronic insomnia :|

I'd say I need about 9-10 hours of sleep if I want to wake up and not be tired as hell, but I usually sleep about 8 hours plus minus 1 hour.
Need at least 9 hours on weeks, otherwise im big ass tired.

I generally do need 7 1/2 - 8 hours sleep.
7 hours is already bad & under 7 hours i feel terrible the next day.


I guess many people don't know the fact sleeping too much is unhealthy aswell.
Used to barely sleep when I was younger, but now I sleep about 8-9 hours every day. Not sleeping enough for a prolonged period of time is really bad for you. You don't recover well enough, you but a strain on your body (even if you don't notice it yet). If you don't sleep atleast 7-8 hours you don't produce enough growth hormones. And trust me, those are very important to everyone, even if you are older. If you are younger than let's say 22-23, I would really try and get as close to 8 hours of sleep as possible.
Well... I'm rather happy I didn't grow any more, could've been a little less tbh. :p

I'm about the same (1m92-1m94 orso), I love it. Besides that I need tons of food to stay on a normal weight. I don't mind standing out in the average crowd, wish I was taller because in the national basketball leagues (second/third division) I'm barely average height.

Only downside is that I like tall and fit girls and find it really annoying to hang around smaller girls even if I really like them. Just because eye contact and feeling comfortable are so much harder when you are towering over them :D

Haha, yeah I know that feeling with girls, they're mostly too tiny. :D Well I'm not really sad about being tall, it just sometimes annoys me, especially when trying to find cloths that fit a 100 percent. :p I'm underweight (BMI), so yeah gaining weight is one hell of a problem. Thanks to my metabolism... ^^

If you sleep less than 4h than that can turn out to be critical for your health because you need the 2nd "deep or REM sleep" which comes from around the 4h mark. The 1st REM sleep comes at 2h but it's barely enough to "survive" the day. Google "deep sleep diagram" if you are interested.

I made an experiment and noticed that if you wake up around 5 hours of sleep or any moment in the non-REM sleep period. I noticed that I don't get as tiered as waking up in the middle of a REM sleep period. In other words you will feel slightly more awaken than you usually do when waking up.

mmm ye, sometimes when i wake up 2hours before alarm im totally awake. But if i dont wake up and just sleep till alarm im kinda tired.

I also sleep 30-50mins in buss :D

EDIT:
after seeing the rem table, i guess i always awake in the 4th rem. thats why im tired altough ive slept more then when im not tired

I _TRY_ and get 8. Everything I do is timed to allow that much sleep. Usually though, it is 6-7, with 8 on weekends.
