pff lol

Hi

Just bought a new graph card (radeon hd 6850) so i had to install new drivers.. well... my fps is stable 125, but it's really not smooth at all, feels like i have low fps. Tried many settings, installed ati tray tools also, but without vsync i can't get the smooth feeling.

If anybody know some solution halp pls, i dont really want to use vsync.

(With the previous card hd 4850, there was no problem at all)

if u are in contact with butchji ask him pls :p must have a reason for him to play with 100 fps instead of 125, maybe he had similar problem.

Anyway it's not that terrible, im sure most guys wouldn't even notice it, because they never saw the game really smooth.

btw mostly it's noticable if you move your mouse constant and slow, and you look at the distance. All object moving like you have low fps, not smooth at all :)

I think with 100fps it is little different to shoot. I don't know if its placebo but that is how I felt when I played with 100/85fps.

Check if your monitor refresh rate has reset or something.
You have this problem in ET? Try setting /r_displayrefresh to 120
Put v-sync on. In 120hz monitors you should use this because it really doesn't cap the fps. Actually I dunno how this works on ET because most of the players tend to set their com_maxfps to 125.
Placebo.
Well, i have this problem in quakelive also, so i guess OpenGL games. I checked my monitor, its 120hz, also r_displayrefresh 120 (tried 0 as well). Also played with r_finish [1,0], r_swapinterval [1,0], tried com_maxfps 100 with r_displayrefresh 100.. nothing helps when vsync is off.

I read from somewhere that new graphic cards and drivers are slow on old games. You could try roll-back your drivers to an older version.

same problem
solved for me! the problem occured because the ati driver always changed the GPU core and memory hz. So if you lock the GPU core and memory hz to a constant rate (i locked 700Mhz GPU and 900Mhz memory), it should work fine! Use ati tray tools for it.
