retard numbers haven't skyrocket, overall CF member numbers have skyrocketed and so for every 1,000 new users who signup you'll have an amount who browse CF a lot due to interest (comprising of some retard percentage). it's comparable to why people think USA is the most retarded country in the world, it's because there population is huge and the media is so strong in the west that retards / idiots are noticed the most even though there are surely millions of really intelligent people in America. :P
