Physical activities

What kind of physical sports you do? How many times a week? Do you consider yourself addicted or do you need to seek motivation sometimes?

My favorite hobby is weightlifting (currently trying olympic lifting) and im also trying wrestling and going to have a shot at boxing. I exercise pretty much every day, usually I have 1 day off and thats when Im just eating and laying down. I think I have conditioned myself and my brain chemistry to have some sort of physical stress daily because it makes me feel so great. Also I have made some great relationships through my hobbies - which is kind of easy when you have at least one thing in common.

And I have started recommending sports to my dearest friends because I know it can only have positive effect on them.

Normally between 8 and 12 hours of tennis per week. More like 20h per week atm, spending all the days there. Yeah, think i'm pretty addicted to this sport as i'm feeling quite bad when i'm not playing enough :D

Playing ping pong every day/evening also, used to run a bit few months back but no motivation anymore for it! Some football from time to time with friends, but really occasionnally tho
LIFTING FUCKING HEAVY WEIGHTS X 3 A WEEK!

bowling: normally 2-3 practice sessions a week, depends on if there is tournament during weekend or not. But lately I cant play that much due to pain in left knee :(

ok i was just trying to make a bit fun of you.
but really doesnt it get bored real quick?
When i play it more than twice a month im kinda done with it.
And also dont you just throw strikes 90& of the time?
Parent
strike percenatage varies between 40% and 70%, depends on oil pattern and how I feel. Its not like you just repeat same shot over and over and over again, even on same conditions in different days you are forced to play different line because of numerous reason (alley temperature, how many and what types of players are plying with you...). Not saying that you have to make many small adjustments because oil patterns break down over time, who can anticipate changes the best wins. Its pretty much same as with chess, you cant just play your current "cards", you have to have a plan and predict some changes before they get apparent (term "educated guess" discribes it the best). And if you want to compete in big tournaments, you need to be prepared very well physically. Just imagine, in most of local tournaments I play in, there are usually 12 games in one day when you make into finals. thats 120 frames, with 50% strike percentage you need to lift and throw the ball 180 times. And ball I am using isnt feather either, good old 15 pounders (~7kg).

btw, in top circuits where oil patterns are the toughest, the best strike percentages are between 70-75% on those "easiest" of the hardest. On hardest pattern (which is used for US Open), the best players are around 50-55% at best. And thats average of 40-60 games, which is average games per player in most pro tournaments. Its much more into bowling than ppl think, however most ppl see it as good game while getting drunk, something like darts or table football.

EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJh3uQCog8Q , these are one of the best players in last 2 years

that wall of text wasnt nearly as boring as i expected it to be
Parent
that was actually quite interesting
Parent
whats the differences / adventages of lightballs and heavier balls? you said you use 7 kg, i always pick something like 12 kg ,that seems good to me. It has a harder impact and "splash damage" on all the cones i believe.
Parent
there is no 12kg ball in bowling, at least not in 10 pin bowling. You are mistakin pounds and kilograms here. I said I am using 15 pound bowling balls, which is ~7kg. So, if you are using balls with "12" on them, its 12 pounds, not 12kg. For casual bowlers, they should pick balls with the best fit on their fingers, for most men its 11/12 pound ball (speaking of ordinary house balls). For more professional playing, you need to get your own balls drilled specially for your fingers. With the right technique and properly drilled holes, you wont have any problems with using the heaviest balls (15/16 pounds). The more heavy ball you use the less deflection from pins you get. Plus when you play with curve, you want the most hitting power you can get, more weight -> more momentum -> more power at the pins.

I'm studying Languages and marketing at uni but as a summer job i'm working on a building site .

just some cycling, cant keep up anything regularly during the semester so sorta unmotivated to start anything serious

i'm fascinated. Tell me more about how you conditioned your brain to want to exercise. I seem to get lazy way too often and I definately need some exercises...
just football, that's pretty much enough. Don't want to spend money on gym or something like that.
Football - 1-2 times a week
exercises at gym - 3-4 times a week
cycling - 4-5 times a week
table tennis - 1 time a week

these are my hobbies, I don't really have to seek for motivation for anything tbh.
floorball training 3 times a week and physical training 3 times a week. Football every now and then + ET @ night
Went to the gym regularly (although only cardio) and kickboxing before Euro 2012 but now i've done nothing for a whole month.
Dont have the motivation to go back though.

Jogging is my main hobby, doing it almost everyday lately. I also love basketball and football is cool too. Time to time I like to play tennis, oh and during summer soccer & volleyball @ beach. :)
Used to go to the gym, but not so amusing, I just make some exercises at home :)
do you just jog for the sake of it or do you train for some marathon or something similar?
Parent
Nah, just for the sake mostly, thinking to attend some shorter distances, like 12-20 km, they usually take place here in Estonia in spring and fall.
Parent
Gym, cycling, running/jogging, floorball, football, tennis etc. basically every sport with a ball or a racket in it. :) I do something almost every day.
3x 1,5h-2h fitness
2x-3x Football
4x Volleyball
3x gym
2x kickboxing
2/3 times a week at the gym and i play football with my friends, in the summer and spring like 2/3 times a week, in fall or winter like once in two weeks
3/4 times gym per week, kinda addicted cuz I feel bad if I haven't done something within 3 days. Sometimes I think about picking up rowing again, but then again I'm not motivated enough anymore.
