CoD4 is at where ET was in like 2006 I would guess. On the cusp of a downward spiral - but as ET has proven even with that you can have fun, history and some good memories from tournaments online and at LAN.

If teams/players stop thinking the game is dead then it will continue. People leaving because of rumours will kill the game.

Yeah its a big thing when "top players" are saying it but then again its so subjective what you would call a "dead" game. I know linqan etc say it due to the fact its not exactly thriving in the competitive lan aspect whereas there is a huge amount of online activity etc.
