Usually manufactors announce their products one by one, Razer however chose to announce 4 new mouse pads at once. As of today their shop will contain the Razer Invicta, Manticor, Destructor 2 en Megasoma 2.
Last weekend, at LAN, I was talking with Abort about all kinds of gaming products: mice, mousepads, keyboards and headsets. Abort is an expert at this field. He wrote Rinput, a program that's used by thousands of people in the competive gaming sence. Back to the story we came to somewhat of a conclusion that the hardware side of the gaming industry is driven mainly by insane marketing and that most pro gamers use down to earth products, the all the fancy stuff just isn't needed, that's why I came here to ask your opinion on the next mousepads and their fancy marketing.
For the people that are intrested he played with a Zowie AM mouse on a puretrak talent mousepad also he was using a sennheiser 360 headset and the steelseries 6v2 keyboard.
Back to the mousepads so today razer announced 4 pads with some fancy marketing of course. Here is a video

Opinion on the ridiculous marketing?
I will stick with my puretrak talent for now...

About gaming products and marketing - obviously they are a bit overpriced but you cant say they arent better. For example I'd never switch back to a rubber keyboard even though most people cant believe one would pay 80e for a keyboard
about the there aren't better products, that might be true (expect for headphones and maybe keyboards(theold IBM model M, not gaming branded is still awesome) but there are low priced products like for example the logitech g400(mx510/518) mouse, not a insanely expensive mouse but it's loved by many and doesn't have all the unnessecary stuff that the higher priced logitech products have
And yeah there are overhyped products like triple laser 1000000dpi own cpu mouses for 100e that are not any better than g400 (even worse actually) but I guess there are ppl who buy them :D.
hardmats will fuck ur mouse up :D
And nvm I thought destructor is a softpad, I know that hardmats suck hard :D
i dont get it why ppl buy it :(
while on the harder surfaces ur just gonna destroy ur glides, it took me less then a week to fuck up my sensei, with steelseries 9hd
At LAN I used my Steelseries set which is a Sensei, a 6Gv2, a Qck + Heavy and a Siberia v2, I got all that from SS since they were sponsoring WinFakt.
Somewhen this week I'll get a new Razer set (afaik: Taipan, BlackWiddowUltimate2013, the control mousepad and a Megadolon)
Non-the-less I think that most of the stuff is very overpriced, especially Keyboards (as long as you can press more than 4-5 keys at once, every keyboard should do) and gaming headsets (for the price of an average-quality gamingheadset you can get high-end headphones and a 3€ mic.
I'm not allowed to give oppinion on the marketing
i'm used to mechanical keyboard now (ive got twoo steelseries 7g[one at my home and one at my parents home])
if you are used to it, you cannot get back to "normal" keyboard...
btw, i bought one for arround 120euro (+-4years ago) and the other one for 6 euro (+-2 years ago)
they are still in perfect working state... (every key still work perfectly) i had like 10 keyboards before that i bought for 5/10 euro, they almost all were fucked up after less than a year (i use it much more than average gamer does)
I am used to a mechanical keyboard now, still, my g15 was as good as the 6gv2.
The one im using is 450 x 400 x 4 mm.
i tried the sensei and had mouse flips only :<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
well for me the best mouse are still razer DA and MX518/G400 didnt test Zowie AM yet but it got the same sensor as the old Razer DA 1800 dpi mouse so cant be bad
for mousepad the razer goliathus speed is still one of the best and getting a puretrak talent is rather expensive if u cant get it from regular shops :(
i love my razer arctosa keyboard aswell, after now 3,5 years the letters in the keys are not readable anymore though :D
for mousepad i use my qck+ for more than 2 years now, it gets worn out at the most used parts, but i still think its kinda like in the first days!
and for headset i bought a sennheiser pc game 320 (had pc 151 before) and i really love that headset, the quality iskinda the same with the 151, but since is bigger and goes around ur whole ears (and i have big ears xD) its more comfortable!
its like that thing where my mom(chefs) put vegetbales on and cut them in pieces :D
