Win7 freez by cod4

Hi all,

I decided to play cod4 again so i installed it some days ago, just via my CD.
Anyway after some minutes playing maybe ~10 my whole pc just freezes.
I have to give it a hard reset.
This happend 5 times already.

I have no clue what could cause this. Would be nice if anyone can help me solve it.

CPU: Intel Core i3 540 @ 3.07GHz
RAM: 8,00 GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 668MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P7P55D LE (LGA1156)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 520
Hard Drive: 250GB FUJITSU MAXTOR STM3250310AS ATA Device (SATA)
Sound Card: Onboard

Is your PC new? I would have taken a 500W power supply, 350W might cause the problem

No. Its 4.5 Years old . Dont know about the current cpu/ram/motherboard, i had that for free.
The videocard is less than a year.

so the powersupply is 4.5years old too.

well, your PC doesn't really come over 150-200W lol, so that's for sure no problem

Try on another config, had a similar problem, but was to do with the configs settings. Using another cfg helped.

Never had problems with this cfg before. Its the only one i used since i play cod4.

About the HDD, ye mate of me gave me the motherboard with cpu and ram for free. HDD is 4.5years old by now;p

I heard the hdd could cause it too, and i think i have to buy a new one anyway. Noticed some clicking.

Yeah, should check that out. Might be just a bit broken. If the same problem occurs on other games as well, might get more sense whats going on. As in huge fps drops before the freeze.

No fps drops, atleast i dont really pay attention to it.(So no hard drops)
However the game APB Reloaded has the same problem. But i read its more known for it.

hmmmm, try doing a disk check. or w/e it's called. Maybe it'll find some problems there. "Check disk C:" or smth

disable punkbuster or play on non-cracked servers

try with 1 single ram, test another gfx card, another PSU...
