This just seems like a great move to kill your product. I'm not sure which monetising strategies revolve around alienating your userbase, but this clearly is one of them. I'm expecting a 180 degree turn though once they went through all the backlash.
Which people actually come up with this kind of shit? I don't think there's a single person on this globe familiar with Instagram who doesn't think this is the worst idea of the year (with regards to making money off people on the internet).

It's not like anybody would really even want peoples shitty pictures about cats and trees.
There are several free sites to make your pictures look old & shittier, use them instead if you feel that your pictures will be used somewhere and you won't earn money with them.

I'm no legal expert, but I wouldn't be surprised if that would end up a tad different with their new policies. I'm sure you can guess where the money will go instead.
