What the fuck

Hey guys,

was just browsing around when suddenly my computer froze and I had to reset it manually (with the reset button on the case)
Took around 5-10 minutes to reboot and then I realized it had done some sort of recovery. I have all my files from 2011 and I am missing the ones from 2012-2013..

What the fuck is this?
Please help me out

Cheers<3

EDIT: Well looks like changing the SATA ports fixed it.. That was fucking weird though

don't do any unnecessary i/o (saving, deleting crap)

get http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk see if you can find one of your more restore points to restore to restore from, but its possible the bits that point to the data have all gone and you might have to get all the files using test disk :]
Well looks like changing the SATA ports fixed it.. That was fucking weird though

well, my professional opinion is "o.0"

I know right. I seriously have no idea what just fucking happened.

better than Recuva?
Parent
No idea; I've only tried recovery with Uneraser (licensed copy) and got what I wanted from a healthy HDD.

A guy I know recovered data from an unusable HDD, he had to leave it running for 3 weeks while it cloned the disk to a new drive; the program had to keep flicking the HDD head over the platter, each time reading just a tiny bit at a time as it wouldn't spin up properly, but it worked.

you played ET in 2011.
you still play ET in 2013.

big deal, no harm done
Same thing happened to me last year. PC froze and had to hard reset. Wouldn't boot, so I changed the SATA ports and it went back to normal. Has been perfect for over a year. :S

Are you using a SSD?
Well mine booted, but it was exactly as it was in november 2011.
And yes, I have an HDD and a SSD

Put computer in oven.
stupid canadians
Parent
The problem is a loose wire, heating up the soldering metal in the oven will allow the wire to fall back into place.
