ET & Refresh Rate

So I have a little problem in ET: I can't seem to get 75Hz to work.


My monitor is BenQ G2220HD 60Hz, however, it supports 75Hz on 1280x1024 and lower. My desktop is 1080p @ 60Hz, but I play on 1024x768 and r_displayrefresh "75". Yet, I still get 60Hz in game. I can play CoD2/4 @ 75Hz like this, but not ET.




Any idea why?

Check your drivers, maybe they override your game's refreshrate.

There's nothing related to refresh rate in program settings for ET, and drivers aren't forcing 60Hz everywhere either since it works on CoD2/4.

TFT = 60hz
CRT = 85 ~ 120hz

CRT > TFT

CRT = headache after 30 minutes
TFT = no headache

do you use r_displayrefresh 0 or r_displayrefresh 75 ingame?

75. I don't see any difference to 60 or 0.


What is weird tho is that my monitor shows display mode as 1024x768 @ 75Hz when I'm playing ET.

Well it feels like 60. Could it be that I am indeed running 75Hz, just the difference isn't that great because I'm playing on 125fps on ET while at CoD I play on 250?


Edit: okay, it has to be this, felt instantly as smooth as CoD when I put 250fps on ET.

r_mode 6. But I think I "solved" this already, ET @ 125fps @ 75Hz just didnt feel as smooth as CoD @ 250fps @ 75Hz. ET felt a lot smoother aswell when I put 250fps.

It's disabled, and I do get 125fps in game.

Check the osd of your display if it's really running @ 75 hz
Windows was always a pain in the ass regarding refresh rates, and still is...

if so then use 76 fps / 75 hz

Monitor OSD says I'm running 75Hz, and I think I actually run on 75Hz aswell.
