Searching good free eBooks concerning software development

I am in need of good FREE eBooks concerning software development. I don't care which platform I have to use in order to get the eBook (amazon kindle etc.).

Are you looking at a specific programming language you want to learn?

Highly doubt any of them are going to be free and if they are the quality is pretty poor most likely.. its "argh matey!" time..

if good books exist, they are likely to exist for free on the internet somewhere
