I was just wondering whether there are still any tournys/cups on the 2.55 patch, i thought that there might not be, but id love to have an answer to whether there is!
I mean I could somehow understand it if there were public players who weren't aware of the new patch and kept playing the old one, but you're telling me people actually played the newer patch and downgraded back to 2.55!?
atleast Jewe, Salaneuvos and L4mpje reached the top level in 2.60b in a relatively short time after the switch, could be that there are some others too as my knowledge of 2.55 scene (after 2.60b came) is almost next to zero
Most of them play nitmod, jaymod or other noname trash with joke category hitboxes. No normal tournaments, if they do they play it on 2.6b.
People stay on 2.5 because they cant install, they think 2.6 is pro only, etc. the only not idiot reason I heard so far when I asked why dont they play 2.6 was that 2.5 is better for public, their main mod (nit) dosent support 2.6...
Dosent really matter. Most of the ET countries are dead, there are no national tournaments and clans... even international level is "dead". :) So shit compared to the past
So much hate on 2,55 ^^ it was just something different and much more casual whilst still having that slight competitivness. It also never had hitsounds which i always think are kinda nooby anyway.
actually back in 2007 until 2009 there was an active etpro scene on 2.55. most players were just people from jaymod clans that wanted to play on etpro to play against other teams
we ran about 5 seasons of ETWars (2.55 etpro cup) which had around 30 clans/teams signing up every time and we had an active etpro public server FragArea which was pretty much full all the time
2.55 was where YCN was found and eyjohn played an important role in the 2.55 scene as he would provide ETWars with sponsored servers and he spend weeks on coding a system that would force people ingame to login with sitedetails to make sure the right people were playing and keep cheaters banned
some people from 2.55 that i can think of right now who played in atleast decent teams on 2.6b are suvi, Eddo, 7ele, Jewe, Salanuevos etc
i havent touch this game in years but i guess there isnt anything left on 2.55 except for some jaymod server filled with bots
I doubt that there are any etpro servers left but damn I miss those times on 2.55 so much..... Great times. Enjoyed playing on the ETWars server and playing random scrims with teammates that I can barely remember. Also afaik NA had a pretty big community at that time. I Remember that they had an etpub server which I played on when ETWars started to become empty(not because of lack of players but because it was late). Pretty sure that some of those moved to 2.60b as well.
But the times I miss most is the NQ/Jaymod times on 2.55. I had such a great time on [SAVO] and Fear-Zone and I could play on them the whole day without getting bored. I met a lot of great people on these servers. I think that the public 2.55 servers was waaaaay more fun to play than the 2.60b and the atmosphere was just better(people didn't whine, people were chatting all the time, most of seemed really friendly).
