before opening the mouse I wanna know if it's actually possible.

I wanna change it cuz the g400 cable seems extremly weak (yes/no?)

G400 IS extremely weak, but why would you change it (and loose warranty) if it is still working? :|

sense, it makes none!
every cable works.
USB is the transport on both mice, so yeah it'll obviously work
Why bother? The original is perfectly fine.
Don't change if you have warranty on it. MX518 and G400 both have shit cables that break easily, eventho from my experience g400 is weaker I prefer not to replace it. (3year warranty is nice)
I had to get my g400 replaced under warranty after its cable screwed up after 12 months; the older mx518 cable is more durable for sure. Just give it a try, the mouse is easy to take apart, but you will probably need replacement feet for it, so order some first.

I opened my g400 up a few times and was still able to replace it without any problems; if you replace the feet with new ones you can just argue that it was due to the original feet becoming worn / damaged should they question it, but I doubt they would. If you are really careful maybe you can keep the original feet in good condition and just stick them back on.
It's possible. I just put a G5 cable to a Razer Diamondback. The connection is always 5 pin, razer or logitech doesnt matter. The side of the "connector" was smaller in DiamondBack case so I had to cut it and reprair it unremovable. But I guess every Logitech mice has the same size 5pin connector.
