Heat v Spurs NBA Finals Game 1

So, if there are people here following the NBA a bit, any predictions? I know Skeit used to watch, Clown follows the NBA and Carlos does. Probably some Americans aswell I reckon? Going to sleep in a bit and waking up at 2:30 to watch the game! Looking forward to it.

My prediction: King James all the way. Heat will win the finals if Wade steps up and if Bosh can get his fucking act together. Will be difficult tho, will see some great games I reckon. Heat in 6!

I just started following the NBA a bit (not every match, not really feasible when you're living in the Netherlands) and mostly because of LeBron James, I have to admit that I did not watch matches from other teams besides the Heat, Clippers and OKC Thunder :x

I did some reading up on both teams tho! So I'm not completely unaware of both teams haha

e: If Elson still played for the Spurs, I rooted for them haha

Wade has some minor injuries, that's why he hasn't been at his best. I say Spurs will take the first game, maybe heat will start playing at their best after that and make it tight. Spurs got team full of stars also so it shouldn't be that easy even on a paper for heat.

Watching it, but that Lebron gets on my nerves. Every game he plays his entire game is one big traveling foul. Not sure why he can just play like that. Just watch how he starts dribbeling or releases the foot he is pivoting with all the time.

From what I've been told, they arent as strict with traveling violations in favour of the game. Could see this in the Olympic games team USA had, where I think they had about 10 traveling violations in game 1...

Yeah, seems like it. I get annoyed every time I watch NBA games. I guess for the casual viewer it adds to the spectacle (easier to do impressive dunks, fast breaks or drives) but for me it just looks so unprofessional that these top players aren't adhering to basic basketbal rules.

Yeah you are right. They are more leniant in the NBA and some players take 3 or 4 steps, but it's not even that which bothers me the most. A lot of them travel when pivoting, during dribbles or when starting a dribbel. On both occasions FIBA and NBA rulings are the same. It's so easy to do get past a defense purely on speed with the way they are playing, there's a reason those rules are in place.

Sometimes it feels like I'm watching ballet instead of basketball.

I looked it up, seems like in writing the rules on traveling are actually pretty much the same. And tbh I can't enjoy those moments because to me they aren't magic. I won't deny that sometimes there are great plays in the NBA, but a lot of those plays are only possible because they don't call a lot of traveling errors. It's so easy to do a cross-over the way they do it in the NBA and you can basically take three steps to get from the 3 point line to the basket without even dribbling (I can do that aswell). So I'm not really impressed when they do that, it's basically just walking with the ball.

Well, it's what makes the game work. It's like when football player would touch the ball with his hand so that he can control it better. It's being called in every other league. Even when I was 12 y/o with shitty refs stuff like this wouldn't fly.

Perhaps I've played competition for too long and too intense to let stuff like this go :p

Fair enough, but to me it's really not skilled to pass a defender or do a crossover when you start with releasing your pivot foot. There is no way a defender can keep up if you do that.

Big Three of Heat: James 18, Wade 17, Bosh 13

James did got a triple double tho (18 rebounds, 10 assists and 18 points). Bosh as a Center got 5 rebounds and Wade as an SG only got 2 assist. FUCKING STEP YOUR GAME UP BOSH AND WADE

It's really hard to do shit when LeBron has the ball all the time. Bosh made a mistake joining Miami in the first place imo.... Overshadowed and underused.

How is he overshadowed and underused? Look at his stats, mainly his defensive stats...he has an average of 6.5 reb and 1.5 blk, he's supposed to be the big man and nobody is "overshadowing" him on the defensive end, yet he's not standing out at all. Somehow when Haslem and Andersen get minutes, they do make points, rebs and blks...and they both got less minutes during regular season

Do not agree. Bosh his shooting % is way too damn low and as Carlos said, his defensive stats are not really good aswel.. If Bosh just hit a higher percentage of his shots no1 would be complaing because really, that is all he has to do. Now, the Spurs only have to take care of LeBron, since Wade and Bosh aint stepping up.
