Maverick from Maverickservers.com has recently released a Quake 3/Quake Live Demo Renderer, and he thinks of doing the same for ET and RTCW.
Basically, you upload a demo on the page, wait a few minutes/hours, and there you have a 1920*1080 30fps x264-encoded MP4 for you to download, and it even uploads it automatically to YouTube!
>No messing with Wolfcam or endless editing over config files; the server does it all for you.
Original Post with more info can be found on ESR http://www.esreality.com/post/2433113/quake-3-quake-live-demo-renderer/
Would you be interested in this?
Only if there is enough interest he will spend a few hours on coding
Always looking for feedback on #maverickservers

FRAPS + MP3 DEAD, DO IT!
anyway, I meant that doesn't matter if SOME of us don't need tools like that, if somebody has an opportunity to amke life easier we should support him, this may be a great tool in the end
Goku made it sound easier, but if it isn't recorded / rendered at your computer, it's rendered elsewhere and that amount of data processing takes time and resources. Even if they own few servers with fast connections and hard drives, it shall take some time...check the esr link for some more details. Takes quite a while uh? ^^
It's not all about letting you render your demos online, its about an online demo database, which can be watched in youtube.
Yet,it takes some time rendering and I think they noticed that, and shall make it faster later on,but the idea is great.
Think how much time own3d.tv needed to re-encode a full hd clip... and make it alot more slower considering they also need to record the demo itself into a .avi (or whatever...) file....
But i agree with you!
