movie suggestions

hey,

i just established my new apple tv and i need some good movie suggestions - i do love movies with jason statham or mark wahlberg - or action movies in general ...

any great movies i need to watch? (or whats your all time favorite?)

(e.g. something like get the gringo, chaos, fighter, safe, crank, or 300, Broken City, shoot them up, sniper, safe house...)

I turned that of after like half an hour... Not entertaining at all (ofcourse could be alot more entertaining after that first half hour but still :/ )

well J Lo making appearance after the first half hour so hell yea more entertaining. Anyway, I liked it and I generally like Statham action movies eventhough they arent great obviously, he likes them so he'll probably like this one aswell :P

Not really an action genre viewer.. Recently watched "42", it's bio/drama and it's instantly gone to my all-time favorites list. Definatly recommend watching that if you also enjoy movies that are abit slower pace.

well dont know what you mean - if i buy a movie (a new one) it will cost 3,99 euro or 4,99 euros... so is that a big deal? i can watch it whenever i want and i dont have to drive to the movie rental twice (once to get the dvd and again to return it...)

it might be a little bit more expensive than renting a normal dvd in the store but you dont have to go there n stuff...

and about other apple products: i just can talk about the iphone and i am more than happy with my phone..no problems and everything is working like it should...

actually, Apple TV is one of those bearable Apple products, it actually offers quite good price/performance ratio. I am not sure how it works with local files (NAS/external drives) tho, I can imagine they could limit such usage since there are no money from it. As for other Apple products, well, meh, overpriced :)

No local storage, SMB works fine though. However the iOS by default is really atrocious, and ATV3 is nothing but a waste of money. If you can get your hands on an ATV2 or 1 it'd be much preferred, jailbreak that fucker and throw XBMC on it, great piece of hardware at that point.

Well, it is already some time since I researched this area of a/v streaming, but Apple TV caught my attention at that time, mainly because it seems to be so f-ing cheap (compared to other Apple products). However, when I sat down and actually write down all my requirements I realized there simply isn't better solution for me than building dedicated HTPC, so I didnt really dig deep into Android/Apple TVs. However, at the end of the day, I think I wouldn't buy Apply TV anyway, just because it's Apple :)

Oh, dude, definitely I love my HTPC/Media-Server, which I've got sitting with my main system in the living room, no doubt, but a shared db between both XBMC setups and the ATV2 in my bedroom is just as fucking great. Point is, if you're looking for a cheap boxee box type of thing that'll get the job done, looks decent and is easy to setup, the Apple TV is definitely one of my #1 picks, or used to be anyway. The Apple TV3 and the fact that it can't be jailbroken kind of ruined that.

Might be, now, but it took them well over a year to supply a jb after it's first release, haven't looked into it in a very long time to be honest... But it had gotten as bad as the ATV2 being sold for ~300eur on ebay, jailbroken, while a new ATV3 would sit at 90eur retail.
