Headset - usb or 3.5mm

Need to buy an new Headset, the question is.

Anyone tried the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Frost Blue USB vs a SteelSeries Siberia v2 3.5mm ?

I always used the old Sennhesier headsets, pc151 etc etc, wich is awesome for games, ( hear footsteps etcetc)

I know the usb version as han inbuilt soundcard itself, wich maybe is kinda nice? So no need to buy extern pci soundcards.

dont go sibera, wierd sound :( but u get used to it fast + kinda decent quality (if u get the usb soundcard)

just get a random 30jews usb headset = win sound :)
im buying headset almost everymonth they keep braking :D

go with swedish powerhouse qpad - afaik u get lifetime warranty :)

Nope, they are sponsored by steelseries that's why they wear them, but below them they got in-ear headphones on lan

Using headphones below other headset reduces the background noise A LOT. For example Friberg uses Siberia v2 frost blues at home without any headphones below them. Somebody asked him yesterday why is he using them because there's better headsets available. Answer was "Fits well and enough sound quality"

Yep :), I just meant on lan they mostly use in ear phones and then other protection headphones to not hear the other team, or casters. I know a proffesional CS player, and I think he used to play with Steelseries v2 frost blue as well.

don't buy shitseries, I went from Siberia to QPAD QH-85 and I couldn't be more satisfied :)
since you have used sennheiser before why would you change? Sennheisers overall seem to be the best

Well its broken and seems like pc151 / pc161 is not for sale anymore.

And yeah, I guess there is better headsets like more bas and better for alround stuff like music, movie.

But for gaming I think a headset with low bas and high treble is better ( like pc151 :P )

Well i can agree with one thing there, that you can use jack phones in alot more different hardwares, recivers, mp3, phone, etc etc.

Is that why you says jacks > usb ?

Or any other reason ?

USB headsets have unpreventable slight acoustic noises caused by the USB connection, also you'll never gain a soundquality as good as with 3.5mm, if you have a decent soundcard I'd deffinitely suggest you the PC350/360 from Sennheiser if you got some money you'd like to throw away for gaming :p Soundcards are really not that expensive tbh and one thing that many people deny but that I am 100 per cent sure of is that a decent soundcard renders further than most not advanced mainboard chipsets (eventhough a lot of newer high end mainboards already offer a decent soundchip) and I have noticed this in ET, CoD4 and CS:GO

you can actually use both..... my 5h v2 was broken however I still had this adapter left: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviewimages/steelseries-7h-usb/steelseries-7h-usb_adapter.jpg
now I plugged my 3,5 jack speedlink headset to this usb adapter with the SS software...and guess what, it works like a charm, I can use all functions like it's a SS headset :D
so try to get that adapter for a few bucks? if you still have a 3,5 jack headset you can combine both for like no money..

steelseries products tend to break easily :p my siberia v2 and my xai both didn't last for more than a year

imo good soundcard -> jack also u can use it on any shit with a jack port
for me the only advantage of inbuilt soundcard @ usb headset is that it prevents acoustic probs related to electromagnetic waves which isnt a big deal for a gaming use

Never tried but I heard that Sennheiser pc350/360 are one of the best headsets u can buy.
