I actually think it's overrated. But that's just because it's not "my kind" of series, I don't particularly enjoy too many story lines and the middle ages or whatever. I still watch it though, because it's close to perfectly made imo -- HBO being HBO.
It is overrated if you've read the books, but if you haven't it's fairly good with lots of suspense, actual character development and unexpected turns.
