Sapphire R9 290 no signal

GUYS IM FCKIN LOST HERE

My friend bought a Sapphire R9 290... When we install the card into his pc we get no signal at all the screen just stays black all fans are running tho...

he has a gigabyte ga-870a-ud3 motherboard and some lc-power 750 w psu...

I already build the GFX into my comp but no success.

I've been googling for 4 hours now but I can't find anything that helps... Would installing a clean windows might help??

Are you sure you got all the power connectors in?

Im guessing it needs 2 8 pin connectors that look like this:

Check the connectors on the card and make sure they are all plugged, and get proper connectors if your PSU doesn't have them originally. My friend had a similar problem, and it was because he only used 6 pin ones.
Yep, he has those 6 + 2 tho, but that shouldnt be a problem right?

Shouldn't be a problem if he plugged in everything.

Also try an using hdmi. I got 2 280x and one of them has a bad DVI port, the hdmi works fine though.
Parent
I tried both DVI slots and the hdmi one.. no success :(
Parent
If you meant that the separate 2(?) pin port isn't connected then yes, that might be a problem.
Parent
nah it has one 6 pin slot and one 8 pin, the PSU has 2 6+2 Pin connectors, I put one 6 pin in and one 6+2 in the 8 pin slot.
Parent
And with 6+2 you mean the type Superboyy linked, right?
Parent
Ye if you plug 6+2 into 8 it should work. Sounds more like a gpu problem, or maybe motherboard.
Parent
try diff monitor/tv
plugin ur monitor to the motherboard pin if u have picture, shutdown plugin to the gfx
if still no worky work, send it back with some antrax
format
Quotelc-power 750 w psu

There's your problem.
nigga I tested it with my 850w xfx and it didnt work

dont need an install to get signal from a card - I do quickbuilds to make sure everything is ok before casing it up (as then on it is a bitch) should just hit the setup screen or ask you to choose from some random options.

Is the fan spinning? could have fried it with a bit of static, easily done and normally overlooked - try another gpu if you have one handy, or attempt a startup without one - will at worst give you some error beep codes.

also fairly cheap motherboard, I always tend to prefer the expense being on the mobo personally - €55 to €350 is a bit steep - even if it is not the problem just a good rule of thumb I have to go with a premium board.

psu should be fine though as long as it actually works properly :P
Thanks for the help bro but I'm 100% sure now that the card is broken. Build the card into a different comp => didnt work. Put 2 different cards into the comp => both work.

It did look that way, and that sucks - good luck on the RMA, they can be proper bitches about it if they want to :(
Parent
worst thing is the card was bought used from ebay... i could slap my friend so hard right now
