Shitty life, need advice

OK, so I got this problem. Right now I only have a laptop with screen resolution 1366x768. Display size : 15,6 inches, 60 hz. It sucks.
I wanna play some et, but I cant set my resolution ingame up. Which r_mode? Some advice bout that? Maybe some nice oldschool or just a pro can help me to handle with dat. I mean r_mode 6 is to fucking small. Randoms playing with me supply are invisible for me cuz soldiers are to small... Ive trried a lot of configs. There is also r_mode -1 and with fov 90 it looks so much better, but this game makes that in this resolution there is different angle of view (comparing to r_mode 6). I see everything, but fucking, lets call it damage feedback, makes me crazy. There is no problem when I play with some unknown random polaks, but when challenging some med guys it is really crazy. Its different than my old r_mode 6 on my pc.
DO u have any advices? And dont be so harsh to me. I cant afford right now a decent PC, cuz I play only ET. (guy who bought pc with high class monitor to play some free,dying game - MORON).
