Building new PC

e: Realized the build that I had wasn't what I needed, thanks for the comments

So, this is what I'm looking for:
A decent PC (without screen and whatever) for around €1000, used mainly for gaming (I might use it for some small time design and rendering, but probably not. I probably won't overclock it. Thought I might give the specs of my current laptop, as I'm looking to replace that by something a little better:
  • Intel Core i7-3610QM 2,3GHz (would like something in the fashion of 3,2/3,5GHz for my PC)
  • Intel Mobile HM76
  • 8GB memory
  • Crucial MX100 256GB
  • 750GB HDD
  • GeForce GT650M 2GB (would like a 4GB for my PC)

fuck 1500 for a pc - u could save like 10 lifes for 1 year
He used to spend 3k on a PC each time, but now he donates half of that to PETA.

You want to overclock I guess? If not buy 4460 + cheaper mobo + cheaper CPU cooler.

If you want to overclock take mugen 4 pcgh.

Also dont buy 2 GPU's imo, 1 GTX 970 is good enough. Its better to buy 1 and upgrade it in couple of years. 2 is overkill, unless you are gaming in 4K or multi monitor. Whats your resolution and you many screens? +-1000 euro is the perfect price/euro point if you want a hgih end game PC.

I would take a custom R9 290, its quite a bit cheaper and almost as fast as a GTX970. Also the 970 has some mem issues if you go 3.5gb+. A 290 uses more power, thats the only disadvantage. (970 is fine too, both are great).

Also I recommend a seasonic PSU.
Right, well, I don't think I necessarily have to overclock, this was just the options given to me by a friend. I'm just looking for a decent gaming PC that I can also use for some designing, video editing, rendering, 3D modelling, etc. etc (this isn't the prioritry though, as I also have a MacBook Pro which I mainly use for that stuff)
Whereas the monitor; I would be using 2 monitors and I would like to have a 4K resolution (however, this isn't mandatory, I can live with 1080p).

Like I said, I have little to no knowledge about this stuff, so if I can get something decent for €1000, I would be more than happy!

Also; I would like to have a displayport or whatever so I can use 144hz screens

You should decide if you want to overclock: 4460+cheaper mobo+cpu cooler will save you around 100 euros. So not gonig to overclock and buy your setup is a 100 euro waste.

If you are serious with rendering, video editing etc you should take a i7 + 16gb ram.

Unless you have a million dollars on your bank, I would just be gaming on one 1080/1440p screen. 4k gaming you need 2 GPU's and still will get 40 fps MAX in new games, so if you want to play in 4k fore multiple years you need 2k+. 1k is great to game 1080/1440p on 1 screen. You could get 1 970/290 + save some on PSU/case etc and you will be around 1k.

144hz is only for games like ET, LoL and CS so a 970/290 would be fine. GL

Updated my post, could you check it for me?

Also, you can use dvi for 144hz, dp is just a bit smaller/futureproof :p
Parent
you can usee 144hz on DVI...

as for hdd, get a sata3 wd hdd! .. velociraptor (10k rpm) or one of the greens. but sata3!
velociraptor?
hello we are in 2015 we got ssds...

which are still more vulnerable than hdds .. otherwise i would've gotten a big revodrive already.

im soon gonna buy also pc and maybe come back to ET if it still lives on....
Something along these lines:

I took Xeon over the i7/i5 simply because it's cheaper. You're not paying extra for an iGPU all the while getting tons of extra features for "free". It's slightly slower, but outside of benchmarks these speeds should never affect you. Also Xeon being designed for server environments, are generally a ton more reliable. RAM is meh, it's a decent kit that runs 1600 @ 1.5v and can easily be stepped up to 1866 @ 1.65v, but realistically unless you're compiling or rendering shit this shouldn't affect you either. If you plan to run RAMDisks or anything alike in the future you may consider getting an extra 8gb, otherwise I find this to be more than sufficient. SSD comes down to preference, I like Crucial - Others prefer the Samsung 840 EVO, makes no difference really. Costs the same, performance is the same. Go with whichever you prefer. GPU comes down to personal preference, Nvidia is dealing with a tons of returns on the 970's right now due to a VRAM issue, AMD on the other hand has its own issues apart from lacking proper OpenGL support. Again, personal preference, a R290 is a tad cheaper and slightly worse in regards to performance. Research and figure out which suits you the most.
So disgustingly reasonable, bleh.

If someone actually wanted to research it, they wouldn't be posting on Crossfire.

Eh, from experience.. people tend to research few of the more pricier parts I recommend. Money involvement makes even the laziest person perform a menial 5 second task.
