When you started et, use another cfg than you are used to.
Test if the game still crashes. Most of the time you are using some cvars, which aren't blocked by software.
Example that alsmot gave me the same problem as you:
r_displayrefresh I can set this to 120hz (while I have a 60hz screen, yes it sucks). Not sure how it is with NVIDIA, but with my AMD I can let software (in this case et.exe) override my graphical settings voor my Vid card.
Just check on those things:
- Using right resolution?(r_mode and custumwidth/height).
- s_ cvars not using more than they are allowed?
- Using right displayrefresh?
- There are more cvars, but can't come up with them right now.
=> btw these cvars you ALWAYS have to edit when using other cfg's! (unless you were lucky it matches perfectly for your pc).
Other ONLY option would be that ET is to hard for your pc, but not in a million years with those specs will et be to hard for your pc. So reset that etconfig.cfg (for every mod + etmain, you play at). Use other cfg and you'll see it doesn't crash anymore. the moment you think it's ok, go look for bad cvars in your cfg. With bad cvars I mean cvars that aren't any good for your pc.
Good luck.
EDIT: if you are using an autoexec, than rename it so it doesn't get loaded automatically when you would be testing other cfgs.
Had those problems too on my w7 laptop, 7i, 2.6ghz,...
With me the problem was the displayrefresh.
Just trying to help, if you don't believe me that's not my prob.
Only thing I'm saying, is what experienced myself.
Good luck ;)
