To the headset, I agree - I wouldn't be able to play with anything else apart from my Siberia's with the equalizer settings I have...
would use my own mous eand keyboard aswell, headset maybe not, but i dont like the siberia, sennheiser ftw!
Mechanical keyboards are very well built, they last much longer (more keystrokes + since you have a metal plate in it, you shouldn't be really able to damage them anyhow) are more responsive (faster), zero ghosting, full n-key rollover in most of the new ones and as far as the switches go, you have such a huge variety of options, anyone will eventually find the perfect type of switches for them.
Most gamers (atleast they say so) use the RED switches, which are soft switches and have such an actuation, that it's very easy to double-tap and is really comfortable to use and they are not that loud.
Then you have the Blue switches, which are usualy the very tactile, clicky keys, that are absolutely lovely for writing (I use it myself), but since you have that certain actuation point and they are tactile, it isn't ideal for playing, but you can get used to it easily.. And then you have everything inbetween... greens, clear, brown, black....
(Spooning is mandatory, tho i doubt you mind)
