Building new PC, Hjalp!

Hey crossies ":D", thinking of finally building new PC and thought maybe I need some help, this time im not buying a budget PC which been around 500e always for me

So far I've collected these parts:

MSI geforce 960 gtx 4gb ddr5
Intel Haswell i5-4960K LGA1150 3.5ghz (have to buy some cooler for it, suggestions?)
Asus z97-P ddr3 (motherboard)
Crucial 250gb ssd
And as a rig bitfenix's some cheap shit (40e)

together these all come out with 769€, I know its still missing some parts, thats why I wanted to ask if these components even work out together and is my 8gb of RAM (ddr3) still legit with these, or do I need to buy ddr4 or ddr5 with these? Thinking of also buying that amazingly proleet 144hz monitor, checked that the cheapest (from Asus) was 310€. I don't want anything from BenQ or Acer, heard those monitors actually destroy the colors :-( Since I do other stuff beside from playing and play some other games than online FPS games as well, I want the colors to be reasonable good. And also, is there anything which should I change to some cheaper, or better with around the same money cost? Not going to buy 970 gtx, dont want to spend over 400 on a graphics card. Thanks in advance, even if you aint gonna help me out though :)

EDIT: Oh, and is my Corsair 600w enough to run this kind of PC, or do I need to renew that aswell? Its around 3 years old now

600w is enough, as is 8gb of ddr3 on 1600mhz

For a cooler just check something on youtube which is quiet, they are usually all decent unless they are extra cheap
Also just a personal thing tho, but maybe try AsRock or MSI for motherboard and be very careful in what number of SATAs do they have and read about their network drivers

Yeah, remembered there could be some issues, just thought it only has to fit to the rig (ATX) :D

I thought that at first also when I was getting mine in the summer, had 3 MOBOs before I found the right one (two defected ones from Asus who are generally one of the most likely to break btw), really try to read about the network drivers in the MOBO once you find the one you want.

AMD is still better than nvidia in price/performance ratio (for example: radeon r9 380), at least in case of polish prices.
You must be shitting me, this 650 gtx TI which i've now is far better than any of the other radeon shit i've had before. Meaning, compared to the day and age when bought
Parent
How much does a 970 cost in Finland? Because in Cze you could get it for around €400 to be honest, if you don't want to push it, just get the Asus Strix GTX960
Parent
its over 400e, dont remember the exact sum.. whats the difference between MSI and Asus
Parent
Brother just bought the ASUS Strix GTX960 and has been very happy with it.
Parent
Oh, so u compare ur gtx 650 to the older radeons u had before, so how about u compare performance of ur gtx 650 with the newest radeons? Great point of view.
Whatever, in case of games optimalized for nvidia, nvidia cards got up to 5% better performamce comapred to radeon cards in the same price class. Im case of games optimalized for radeon, radeon cards got up to 20% better performance than nvidia.

Compared to the day and age when bought, dunno if you caught the drift of it.. Noticed nvidia cards are more stable and lasts longer. It's no suprise nvidia cards are mostly used for gaming / nerd stuff than radeon cards go for family PCs :) It's like saying AMD rocks over Intel on processors, have had both and my old intel lasted longer good than any of AMD CPUs I've had. Also, in terms on lasting my radeon cards have totally BURNT while this nvidia card have been a total dream compared to those, sure this one is newer than my previous radeon HD 4850 which was supposed to be pretty premium stuff on the day I bought, bet same price range nvidia card would have rocked it out

QuoteNoticed nvidia cards are more stable and lasts longer

thats kind of joke considering fact nvidia was actually known in past for very short life time and very high working temperature. My old GTX 285 been getting over 125 C after few minutes in benchmark (120 C was a normal temperature under average pressure). As far as i remember it was nvidia's standard till 600 series. My 14 or 15 years old radeon 9200SE, which was used from time to time till now is still working fine.
Im not a fan of radeon, i was really confused picking out between amd and nvidia too.

Could be, as I said it was more like a bet or a guess. Anyway, there is no reason to buy radeon anymore right? :PPPP Still, GeForce 8800 and 7600 (for example) were still better for FPS vice than it days radeon cards

there's comparation with the same settings in different games (kl/s = fps):
image: amdvsnvi
both cards cost the same in pl
also that radeon card got lower power needs than gtx960

A very good reason to buy Radeon cards are that they outperform NVIDIA cards in DirectX 12. Sometimes even a 290X can be faster than a 980Ti. If you can wait for a graphics card, do it since 14nm/16nm graphics cards are going to be realised this year. Because of this new node performance should be at least 50% better compared to the current generation. This is the biggest jump in the last 5 years.
Parent
Wait what, so radeon cards actually beat nvidia now? :P What means this year, 9 months or 1-2 months? I dont want to wait forever you know!
Parent
When will the next generation arrive? Should be late summer or Q3.

Radeon Pro Duo > Everything from NVIDIA
Fury > GTX 980/Ti on 4K
290X > 970 on high resolutions, below WQHD the 970 is faster.
390/390X > 970
380X > 960 http://www.anandtech.com/show/9784/the-amd-radeon-r9-380x-review

But on DirectX 12 the 290X is on the same level as the 980Ti!

Just ask Oxy, everyone else is clueless
Not really ;)

Take Skylake, no reason to get Haswell anymore. You can use the DDR4 for your next build.
Scythe Mugen 4 has a good price/ performance ratio cooling wise.
Do you want to overclock? Because if not than a Z series motherboard and a K processor is useless
What kind of Crucial SSD is that? If it's a BX200, don't buy it, since the BX100 is better.
What kind of Corsair PSU do you have currently? Since not all Corsair PSU's are great quality, especially the CX series are not that great. And you should not use a really old power supply.
What is the reason that you want to buy a GTX960?
Yeah, noticed the fact about skylake
Thanks, thought about going for a liquid cooler but then again no thanks for liquid shit!
Most likely at some point, thats why good cooler is needed
Dont have any idea about SSDs, care to explain?
Its CX series, other friend said its cool for it..
I wanted GTX960 because it is a lot cheaper but my friend said fuck it, buy GTX970 asus strix now cause it fits to my motherboard and buy the rest stuff later (gets too high price for my salary when rent and bills and other living is combined)
Parent
Bit late..

I love liquid cooling, but i have a custom water cooling setup, much better than the AIO liquid coolers. For most users high-end air cooling is the best solution.

The CX series is not really know for quality. How old is it? If it's 3 years or so replace it.
I would not buy the GTX960 or GTX970 anyway, maybe better to buy a cheap card for a half year or something and than buy the new generation, the GTX970 is already 1,5 years old. You can play ET on integrated graphics easily btw ;)

The Crucial BX100 is faster than the new BX200 :)
