Cheap option for 144hz
Suffers from image ghosting
Can't change height of the monitor which sucks
Does not have displayport
Decent picture quality

i own an Acer Predator GN246HLBbid 144Hz myself and the picture is that bright as by far no monitor i own before, it took me some time so set it in a useable adjustment (set brightnes to 0 in monitor menue and nvidia collor settings), otherwise the sun is litterally shining if you open a word document or something else, games and videos are much to bright aswell....
would not recommend or buy again, but i do live with it and in some cases it can be a pro o own a second sun - forget r_gamma ;)
I would recommend ASUS as I put a lot of trust in this mark. With specification of:

Basic:
Time Reaction: 1ms
Frequency Refresh Rate: 144hz
Matrix: TN (most cases for cheap gaming monitors)
Max-Resolution: 1920x1080

Optional: (higher budget)
Time Reaction: 1ms
Frequency Refresh Rate: 144 or higher
HW V-Sync: G-sync or FreeSync (for other mark)
Matrix: TN / IPS (better color quality and contrast, higher view angle) / IPS Curved (gaming maniac or lottery winner)
Max-Resolution: 1920x1080 or higher

For cheap price You will get only parameters of 144hz + 1ms + TN, which are in my opinion necessary for gaming, e.g.:
- ASUS VG248QE [1ms, 144Hz]
- ASUS MG248Q [1ms, 144Hz, 3D]

Otherwise if you are annoyed by Screen Tearing and willing to spend more money I would recommend G-sync/FreeSync + 144hz + 1ms + TN, eg:
- ASUS PG248Q
- ASUS ROG PG278Q [1ms, 144Hz, G-Sync]

If you have high budget You can try G-sync/FreeSync + 144hz + 1ms + IPS/IPS Curved.

Necessary plug-connector:
- DVI Dual-Link
or
- DP

Optional:
- HDMI (equal or higher than 1.4v; recommended 2.0; too much troubleshoting; I wouldn't bother about HDMI)

P.S. And yes, if You was thinking about Screen Tearing You are right, it's possible to use software V-sync, but it cost Respond-Time, You will get rid of Screen Tearing but then forget about 1ms RT. If you don't, then hardware G-sync/FreeSync is required.
144hz only with dvi duallink

That's correct. DVI with Dual-link, but most of those "gaming monitors" has it.
DP - Display Port supports all hz.
HDMI 1.4 or higher, also.
Parent
Probably the best, low price choice. Slightly better than benq xl2411z (because of Free Sync ), no doubts.
