Nostalgia

Hello everyone,

I've been feeling a bit nostalgic lately and i started playing old school games again.
Pokemon (red/blue/gold/emerald/TCG) on GBA emulator.
Gran Turismo / Worms Armageddon / Tekken 3 / Tomb Raider 1&2 / Crash Bandicoot series and a lot of other games on ps1 emulator.

Now i'm looking around on GOG for pc games i used to play like Dungeon Keepers, AOE, HOMM 5 and Robin Hood: The legend of sherwood but i'm afraid of buying them since my new pc seems to have problems with "old" games.

Every time i put in a cd-rom of one of my older games (warcraft 3 / frozen throne / Vikings / C&C Tiberian sun) my pc simply freezes, refusing to install them.
However if i enter my cd-rom of BO2 it opens the installation screen just fine.

Can anyone help me fix this or do you know if i will have the same problem if i buy one of these "older" games?
Thanks in advance <3

EDiT: i have windows 7

DirectX clash maybe?,

Had it with the old Stormship troopers
Do you suggest uninstalling all my DirectX versions and installing the version needed to play game X every time i want to play one of those game? Or am i getting this wrong :p

To be fair I tried that, but it was simply the way that it wouldn't work unless I installed older OS and older version of DirectX (had the same regarding my oldschool AoE CD collection...)

That kinda sucks because my biggest motivation for windows 7 was so i could play these older games ^^

I just bought and installed Robin Hood and Homm 5 and they seem to work fine, haven't actually played yet but i can launch the games without any problem.

Is it possible that problem lies with my disc reader or smth?

Start them with compability mode for XP or something like that if it doesnt work Virtual Box + Win98/XP and u are good to go
a lot of those games you can just download online for free

I still play HoMM3 and C&C Red Alert 2 / Yuri's Revenge from time to time, good games
with torrents?
If it's games i play more than 100 hours on i'll gladly pay a few bucks but obviously you don't know that before hand if it's a new or unknown game.
But in this case i'm not going to download them.

well yeah I'm sure you can torrent them as well but I just meant through community websites/orgas (like XWIS or CnCNet for the Command & Conquer series, for example)

ah, didn't knew that.
