well they've actually mentioned on here before that one of their long-term goals is to replace ETPro with their mod, but that just wasn't gonna happen as soon as they started making gameplay changes instead of simply fixing bugs/exploits and updating the graphics
yeah exactly. A mate setup a server a few months back and the base mod isn't terrible on vanilla maps. Biggest thing I noticed is how smooth it runs (with the multi-thread support etc.) which should answer any of the performance questions (basically it better supports modern PCs).
When I first read the headline I thought it meant they had somehow remade ETLegacy using the Frostbite engine but then I realised DICE haven't released an SDK similar to Unreals :{
I don't like changing old maps' playability just for looks (the side trickjump / barb wire, and terrain in general). You need to remember people are going to play the map, not just look at it. How optimized is the map? How is FPS compared to old frostbite?
One thing I like is the cave ceiling in axis spawn / docs area. Looks great.
It looks bad. I mean, I respect all the work they put into it but it wont attract any new players (if thats the goal) and current/old ET players dont give a shit about its graphics.
