Dear fellow, oldskool, die-hard, ET'ers.
Ive been playing for a whole 6 days now. And i love the game the same as I did years ago.
But i have so many questions..
I've noticed the many many different mods and gamemodes and stuf.
I remember playing clanwars and other active public servers.
Well. I installed this ET Legacy, it was quite easy.
But now the questions:
- Are there only a few active servers atm? Most of the time 2 or 3. (sometimes with only a few players)
- Does every god damn server have bots these days? :-(
- Whatsup with all these different mods, ive seen jaymod, etpub, etpro, etlegacy and so on.
- What mod is used for official matches? (I guess etpro)
- How to get ETpro? Ive downloaden the zip file.,.. And now what?
- Why is it so hard to install shit and stuff, or did my computer skills become this terrible?
- How to get a proper CFG?
- Where to find active community? This forum is also half-dead.

Probably. You can find a list of active ETPro public servers here, although that may be a bit out of date. I would just use https://et.trackbase.net/serverlist/ instead.
I don't think any ETPro servers use bots; they are simply populated or not. However, many servers running other mods use bots to give the illusion of activity, typically during inactive hours of the day or once the server has a particularly low number of players. The most active non-ETPro public servers are run by a clan called F|A - you can visit TrackBase as linked above to find them.
ETPro is the competition mod for ET. Jaymod, ETPub, NoQuarter, etc. are other "fun" mods with lighter settings and extra features for filthy casual players. I personally prefer ETPub or silEnT mod as they feel most similar to ETPro. ETLegacy is also technically a mod but more like a new version of ET. You can read more about it here.
Yes, ETPro is the competition mod that you likely played years ago. It was and is used for all official cup/ladder/league matches, as well as LAN events.
You should be able to connect to any ETPro server and be prompted to download the mod automatically. It can also be found here (along with many other helpful tools and resources). Simply drop it into your ET folder - "C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory", or something similar - and you should be good to go.
It's not you. Unfortunately this has always been the case and is one reason why the game has become so inactive. See the tutorial I linked above and feel free to ask here if you need help or better yet join the discord at https://discord.me/schneet.

This is the most active ETPro community. There are probably other active websites and forums still out there, but I'm not aware of any. The ET discord server is likely your best bet to meet other players to talk to and play with and get back into it.
