So yeah, we've got a new Nations Cup now and things going on at Crossfire...
Not on the same scale as ten years ago, but still!
Did I get it right in TosspoT's Journal that R0SS ensures that Crossfire stays online?

Discord is a great thing, but this platform can't possibly replace Crossfire. Even if Crossfire is not what it was a decade ago. The rest of this community just doesn't stop being one.
I really enjoy reading here what happens around our beloved game. I think many of you feel the same way.

I just wanted to thank all of you for being here and posting content! (Especially Mr Chief Baguette Officer of all french cklubs LeFrancis for posting hilarious content :D)

You may be wondering for a few years why this website was so inactive and only the same ppl were posting content, it was because many users didnt know their passwords anymore and they no longer had access to their accounts, you could neither reset pass of your account nor register again, because a CAPTCHA code had to be entered in the fields, but this had bugs, so no one could have access to crossfire.nu as a user. Msh100 has now fixed that, we have had this problem for almost around 5-7 years, think that is also a reason why the community was getting smaller/dead/inactive.
I think the captcha plugin/code was just out of date and no longer supported and a new valid one fixed it

No, you didn't get it right. I had a conversation with TosspoT about possibly taking over the hosting for crossfire. He would get in touch with his tech guys to give me access to the current server so that I could analyse things and see what would be needed to host it etc (and possibly improve it's performance), but since then I haven't heard back from him.

So far it's still online at the same place so I guess he's still paying his hosting fees to the german company where it's hosted currently.

Hoi Ronner, not sure if I can be of any help but I will happily help with hosting.

I am running some projects/websites on my server(s) for more than 10 years, provide webhosting to some people here for 7+ years and I don't intend to ever shut it off as long as it is getting used or is needed by someone.

Are your plans to simply take it over, optimize for performance and then run it as it is or would you want to further develop it?

To be honest, I don't think so. beta-gaming is/was yours? I had there one or two movies uploaded.

My collection currently containing around 590 movies, short movies and trailers, around 190GB ;). Maybe few are duplicated, didn't check everything yet.

Hmm in the past 190GB wouldn't really bother me. But now I am running SSDs on my server and also the used storage is increasing.

Are you willing to pay a few € monthly for hosting?

Mhm... maybe... depends how much is "few" and is it only for storage or for some cPanel'ish/database things included. I just dropped current hosting because of more necessary expenses (I took home loan recently, first child is on the way ;D).

That's really a question you should be asking TosspoT. When he posted the "all good things must come to an end" journal, I offered TosspoT to host Crossfire. I spoke with him and we agreed he would get in touch with his tech guys to let me have shell access to the current server that it is hosted on so that I could do an analysis etc. After that I haven't heard from him anymore. That's all I know.

My plans were definitely not to further develop the site, but merely host it so it wouldn't go away.

i just logged in again after years.
you should take the role model of cs. crossfire just like hltv.org and discord like irc.

i personally found motivation to play this game again next to valorant and hope that there are cups or even lans announced during this phase of activity.

maybe some formats like minor cups to qualify for a bigger cup or maybe a new format playing a team in a best of 5/7 format to force players to change strategies which requires more activity. at the end we all want more activity dont we?
