Internet/router problems

My setup here at university is as follows:
3 Computers, 1 router, 1 internet all works great normally.
My connection is perfect, no problem.
Housemate #1's connection is broken
Housemate #2's connection is broken
Housemate #1 has a virus on his old shit laptop
Housemate #2 has had virus's because he downloads porn from the wrong places and possibly has done so again.
However, Housemate #1 needs the internet for work, pretty urgently. When I put his laptop onto my internet connection cable it still dosent work. I've tried repairing the connection, but no luck, and his Norton 2000 is still saying virus alert, and it cant fix it.
I ran adaware and hes got something really fucked up on there as its got a 10/10 rating on adaware.
If I can fix his internet, then he'll do all my washing up, so I REALLY need to fix it :P
Any thoughts? What cud be wrong, I'm guessing the virus is blocking his access somehow?
