problem with cvar!

i try to set "r_ati_fsaa_samples" to "0"
every time i do this the game says the variable doesnt exist and it resets it to "1". i can chose between "1","2" and "4". not "0".
been trying to connect to telenet and bio, but i get kicked because i cant set that value to 0! frustrating.
help would be welcome, i havent played in over a year but i really want to right now!
