Buying a new mouse

So I decided to buy a new mouse. I've been using wireless MS Intellimouse explorer 2.0 for some time and I'm used to the layout of buttons + the shape of the mouse. I bought wireless laser mouse 6000, but I'm very dissapointed by the mouse because it jast can't handle fast movement... The specifications on the MS site seem to be bullshit.
I'm sending it back and I can pick another mouse and pay the price difference. They have Logitech an Razer mice too.
So my question is, what mouse should I buy ?
I'm thinking of Logitech G5 (newest laser technology etc.... but it has only one thumb button, and I'm really used to two) or MX 518 (which is optical but has two thumb buttons).
Plus my mousepad is Steelpad S&S, so the mouse has to work with it. I could buy a new pad too, because the surface is not what it used to be. The shop sells everglide, func, corepad, razer and steelpad mousepads.
