Problem with movie making

So here's the deal. I'm using Sony Vegas 5.0 and I've been making a fragmovie for my friend. I've had huge problems getting audio- and videotrack syncing in the final version (after rendering). I'm using these XviD -settings (1st pass without audio, 128kbps mp3 audio compression during 2nd pass).
The problem isn't big but noticeable. The audiotrack goes on a bit faster than the videotrack (or the videotrack gets delayed, dunno which), not much, but the difference is maximum about one second after 10-12mins of movie from what it is in the Vegas timeline. I almost got the problem eliminated but it still exists and can be seen for example when you skip, forward or rewind the movie, or even pause it during watching. During those cases the audiotrack goes on a bit more.
This may not be the best place to ask this but I'm very pissed of because of this and I'd be glad if anyone who might have had similar problems would provide me some solution.
