Problems connecting

I've been a Neverwinters Nights player since release and has played on the same server for a good 4-5 years now.
However, after my recent change of hardware together with a formatted harddrive and a new router things have not been working as good as they once did.

Basically, this is the problem:
I can (most of the time) not connect to NwN servers with port 5121, which is the default port for NwN servers and the one "my" server is running on. However, occassionally I can connect. I just start it up, and poff. I can connect. I haven't been able to see any kind of pattern here, it just happens once in a while. Say... Once every twentieth time I start the game up.
Another strange thing is that I can only sometimes get the in-game server list (It's powered by Gamespy). Sometimes it doesn't show any servers at all, sometimes it only shows servers running on other ports than 5121 and sometimes it show all servers even though I can't connect to them.
I have the server in my favorites in ASE and it can ping it and check the ammount of players and everything without problem. I can not ping the server's IP in my command tray, it times out (without the port, of course).

I'm using a cheap-ass router that I can't even find online. I tried setting it up in the best way I can see, with me as DMZ host which should disable all firewall protections (I'm assuming the problem is on my side since I can connect to NwN servers with other ports with no probem) and I've tried adding the port in the "safe list". I've tried everything with the router settings, disabling DMZ, setting someone else as DMZ host, removing the port from the list, disabling the list, everything, and the problem remains.

I'm clueless and I need some help.
